Here at Take Her Lead, we often highlight inspirational women who are making headlines and changing the world one act at a time. However, there are also many men that are working to ‘change the game’ for women, and one such guy is DeAngelo Williams, running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In the midst of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the USA Today reports that Williams has decided to pay for the mammograms of 53 women in North Carolina. His mother, Sandra Hill, died last year of breast cancer, and to honor her memory, Williams will be personally paying for “53 mammograms for 53 women — one for each year of Hill’s life.”
According to the USA Today, Williams has been in search of a way to honor his late mother, and it was recently revealed by ESPN’s Lisa Salters that Williams’ request to wear pink throughout the 2015 football season was declined because it would be a uniform violation.
Needless to say, we think Williams found a beautiful way to honor his mother, and a helpful one at that.
Real men don’t just wear pink, they think pink.
