CoverGirl is all about giving women the tools to enhance their natural beauty — and their latest brand ambassador is only going to further that mission.
According to Glamour, the makeup company just announced that makeup artist Nura Afia will serve as their new brand ambassador. A beauty blogger who’s gained a massive following for her video makeup tutorials, Glamour says “what sets her apart from all the beauty bloggers out there, though, is that she’s always wearing her hijab in her videos.”
Although Glamour reports her Youtube channel has over 200,000 subscribers, Afia told the magazine that being chosen to represent CoverGirl is “surreal.”
“I never thought I would see Muslim women represented on such a large scale,” she explained.
Featured in the #LashEquality ad campaign, which “stresses inclusivity within beauty and celebrates the launch of the brand’s So Lashy! BlastPro Mascara (which is designed to flatter every lash type),” Glamour says Afia will help usher in a new wave of diversity in the beauty industry, with both commercials and a Time Square billboard showcasing the makeup blogger and her own brand of beauty.
