Chrissy Metz knows a thing or two about body positivity — and the breakout star of NBC drama This is Us recently schooled us all in how to love ourselves despite naysayers.
According to Today, the actress imparted her self-love wisdom in an interview with People Now, sharing that she never returns any negativity dished out to her by haters; instead, she hits them with a dose of kindess.
“The way I stand up to bullies is with kindness and love…Because I think that’s what they really need. They’re misunderstood and probably really upset themselves,” she said, according to Today, adding that in the instances she’s been targeted by online bullies, she either doesn’t respond at all or responds with kindness.
But the real gold of Today’s piece came from an earlier interview in which she discussed how her body does not determine her value.
“The truth is, I don’t find my value in my body or my weight,” she previously told TODAY. “It’s really more about who I am and what I can offer as a human being to the people in my life and the people in the world.”
Thank you, Chrissy Metz, for reminding us that kindness quashes hate — and that self-love is the best kind of love to have.
