Super Bowl LI gave us a double dose of all things Lady Gaga: a stellar half-time performance and a new ad for Tiffany & Co. that aired during the telecast.
According to Glamour, the “Perfect Illusion” singer took a break from practicing for her Super Bowl gig to film a 60-second ad spot for the timeless jewelry company in which she invokes the simple elegance of a present-day Audrey Hepburn. In a head-to-toe black ensemble, Glamour says Gaga conveyed “an understated message of femininity, rebellion, and power—a mission that syncs with Gaga’s recent trajectory well.”
Showcasing the Tiffany HardWear Collection, Gaga’s ad is part of the company’s Legendary Style Series, says Glamour, which was photographed by David Sims and featured Grace Coddington (of Vogue fame) as the project’s creative director. Reflecting on her involvement with Tiffany, Glamour said Gaga recalled her New York roots to explain her love of the brand:
“In New York, you’re born knowing that Tiffany is the best, and that it is where the magic happens,” she said. “The brand is definitive and iconic, yet continues to push and evolve with the times. To me, Tiffany represents timeless American jewelry.”
If Gaga’s ad inspired you to shop the HardWear collection, Glamour reports that it will “be available onbeginning May 2 and in stores April 28,” while limited preorders began on Feb. 5.
