Fashion Finds: Jewelry

If you’re on the hunt for something stylish, but don’t know where to look, look no further than THL’s newest feature, Fashion Finds! Here, you’ll find overviews of cool shops that will fulfill all your fashion needs while also keeping in mind your budget. From apparel to shoes, accessories and handbags, Fashion Finds will help you find it all, and today, we’re scoping out fashion jewelry.

Good fashion jewelry can be a tricky thing to find; while you don’t want to spend a ton of money on a necklace or bracelet, you also want something that looks nice, that will withstand wear and tear and will pair easily with different outfits. You may even want something a bit trendy, but don’t want to shell out a lot of money for a fleeting style.

But THL knows that all fashion can be accessible — to your style and to your budget. So if you’re in the market for some shiny new jewelry, you’ll want to check out some of our favorite stores:

Charming Charlie: Offering affordable jewelry that ranges from trendy to classic, this store is a great starting point when searching for fashion jewelry. Charming Charlie also has frequent sales on jewelry, so you can stock up on of-the-moment statement pieces like chokers or classic styles like simple stud earrings. THL’s favorite: the gold lattice hinge bracelet, which offers a subtle classic pavé style in a bold cuff silhouette.

Forever 21: While it can be seen as a store for millennials, it does have a vast selection of fashion jewelry at highly affordable prices. Offering everything from dainty pieces to big, bold statement looks, Forever 21 will certainly have something to suit your taste out of their 1,500-plus products. THL’s favorite: the rhinestone ear pins, which provide a delicate shine coupled with a modern style.

BaubleBar: If you’re looking for something a bit more fancy and can stretch your budget, you’ll have to pay a visit to BaubleBar. The site offers only the most fashionable jewelry, keeping you and your style right on trend. One of BaubleBar’s best features is their build-your-own sets, in which you can select three styles of your choosing in either necklaces, bracelets or earrings — and, when you build a set, it’s more cost-effective than buying each piece separately, thus saving you money so you can go buy more jewelry. You can even get some items personalized, which makes a great gift for birthdays, anniversaries or graduations. THL’s favorite: the fringed hand chain, which combines a hot trend with a sleek silhouette.

J.Crew: If a classic look is more your style, then J.Crew has a selection perfectly curated for you. With designs featuring pretty crystals, floral patterns and simple chain links, J.Crew’s jewelry offers timeless styles that will easily pair with everything from a little black dress to a mid-week work look. While J.Crew’s jewelry often costs more than the previous three retailers, their elegance is certainly worth the cost. But here’s a hint — if you can’t swing the higher price tag, check out their J.Crew Factory store online, where you can find more classic styles at a fraction of the regular cost. THL’s favorite: the double gemstone clusters necklace from the factory store, which can dress up everything from a T-shirt to an evening gown.

With all of these great options to pick from, you’re sure to find some jewelry that you love that won’t hurt your wallet. Know of a store that we missed? Add it in the comments below or tweet us at @takeherlead with your suggestion along with the hashtag #FashionFinds.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Amanda Seyfried has been a fashion muse for many, often wearing enviable outfits on and off the red carpet. But as The Daily Mail reports, the actress was once a ‘brand muse’ for a skincare line, Shiseido’s Cle de Peau Beaute Tokyo.

Seyfried stepped back into this role once again on Oct. 9 when she attended the company’s launch event in Tokyo, Japan at the Palace Hotel Tokyo. Looking as stunning as ever, Seyfried kept her look simple and elegant with a white sheath dress by Antonio Berardi, says InStyle, which she paired alongside silver Bionda Castana lace-up pumps. She polished off her look with loose, side-swept waves and natural, dewy makeup.

Seyfried’s white and silver launch event look was breathtaking, but so were the prices on some of the pieces in her outfit. Take her pumps, for example. Her gorgeous metallic Bionda Canstana pumps — the Lana pumps — are available in a different color at Farfetch for a lofty $874.53. If these pumps are out of your price range, never fear — not only have we found the perfect pumps to replace Seyfried’s pricey pair, we’ve also found a dress to mimic her entire look, and all for under $200. Read on for the results!

First on our shopping list was a curve-hugging white dress, and we found the perfect alternative in the form of the Ponte Wrap Hem Bodycon Dress from Missguided. Featuring a split hemline reminiscent of Seyfried’s Antonio Berardi number, this dress will show off your curves while also maintaining a clean, crisp silhouette. Available for only $34, this dress is the perfect piece from which to build the rest of our look for less.

Finding pumps to rival Seyfried’s silver Bionda Castana heels was no easy task, but we finally landed on the Sheer the Wealth Silver Glitter Mesh Pumps from Lulu’s. Featuring a similar pointed-toe silhouette and toe-box cutouts, these heels will easily pass for Seyfried’s pricier pumps — but they’ll only set you back $34.

Completing the look is a simple bangle, and there’s no better bangle for the job than the Karat Slim Cuff Bracelet from BaubleBar. Done in a hematite tone, this bracelet will add some shine to your outfit without competing with your sparkly metallic heels, and it will do so for only $32.

Amanda Seyfried is certainly our style muse in this white Antonio Berardi dress and silver Bionda Castana heels, but while we envy her look, we definitely don’t envy its high price, costing upwards of $874.53. But because we believe that high fashion doesn’t have to come at a high price, we recreated her entire look for well under our $200 budget, coming it at an even $100. At a price like this, you have no reason not to go shopping for this look!

Happy Shopping!

Style 101: Ear Jackets

Studs, drops and chandeliers — these are only a few of the many styles of earrings available from jewelers around the world. While most of us are familiar with these classic earrings, there are other styles that are just starting to gain attention, like the trendy ear jacket.

Although they sounds like a small parka to keep your ears warm in the winter, ear jackets are actually a two-piece earring consisting of a stud and a decorative attachment that connects to the back of the stud and wraps around the earlobe to create a jacket-like effect.

Ear jackets come in a variety of styles, designs and colors, allowing them to be paired with everything from formal outfits to more casual outfits and everything in between. Ear jackets also vary in size, with smaller styles adding subtle visual interest and larger styles acting as statement jewelry pieces.

If ear jackets sound like something you might want to try, there are several stylish yet affordable options from BaubleBar that are perfect pieces to get you started on your ear jacket collection.

The Pavé Sputnik Ear Jackets from BaubleBar make a great starter piece to dip your toe into the waters of ear jackets. Done in a gold tone, these ear jackets features tiny pavé triangles that will outline your earlobe in sparkly rhinestones. For only $32, these earrings will look like you’ve paid much more for this edgy style.

If you’re looking for a colorful statement piece, the Maldives Ear Jackets will fulfill all of your desires. Featuring pink and turquoise stones, the colors in these ear jackets are offset by dainty rhinestones, allowing them to pair easily with dressy and casual outfits alike. These ear jackets are a style steal, coming in at only $28.

This butterfly-shaped style will reflect any light that graces its ornate crystal, creating a glowing frame around your face. These ear jackets will certainly trick all your friends into believing that they were much more expensive than $32.

Take Her Look [For Less]

In preparation for an all-new episode “Love, Lust, or Run” airing tomorrow night on TLC, THL has yet another way to imitate host Stacy London’s style, because let’s face it — who doesn’t lust after London’s style?

On Tuesday, London took to Instagram to share a photo of herself drinking her morning coffee in style (of course!), wearing two Tuleste Channel rings. These gunmetal and silver bands are currently unavailable on the Tuleste website, but their all-gold and two-toned counterparts are available for $95.

Although $95 isn’t terrible for a set of two rings, THL knows that the look can always be found for less! We found a strikingly similar ring from BaubleBar for only $28 – the BaubleBar Cigar band mimics the shape and brushed finish of London’s Tuleste bands for a about a third of the price. The cigar band comes in silver, gold and rose gold tones.

If you would rather have a midi ring and band set like the Tuleste duo, BaubleBar offers an all-gold midi and band set that could pass for London’s rings. The Aristocrat Ring Set delivers a double-row midi ring paired with a thick band that features two little buttons, adding a little bit of hardware to the otherwise simple set. The price makes this set go from good to great – it’s only $34!

Now that you have two great alternatives to London’s gorgeous Tuleste rings, you have no reason not to take London’s look for less!

Take Her Look [For Less]

TLC’s Stacy London (first of “What Not to Wear” and now “Love, Lust, or Run”) has an Instagram full on enviable jewelry and covetable fashion. So naturally, in scrolling through her posts, we want everything! But affording the style maven’s wardrobe and accessories may not always be within reach, so a look-alike will have to do [sometimes]!

According to the fashion guru’s Instagram post on May 27, she received a gorgeous Paula Mendoza choker necklace for her birthday that appears to be adorned in turquoise and silver beads. Although the exact choker is no longer available online, similar styles retail for around $650.

If this gorgeous, but pricey choker isn’t exactly in your price range, our friends at BaubleBar.com have a ton of choker and collar necklace options that mimic the overall shape of this stunner, but at a fraction of the cost.

BaubleBar’s Medusa Pearl Collar Necklace imitates the curves of London’s Mendoza choker, but it won’t break the bank, coming in at an affordable $62. This collar is ready for all of your summertime outfits — the pearls make it easy to wear with casual or more dressy outfits and the gold-tone of the metal will sparkle next to your tan summer skin.

If you would rather wear a simpler style but still test out the collar trend, BaubleBar offers a more streamlined, minimalistic collar, the Eve Asymmetrical Collar Necklace, which retails for $38. This collar is available in both gold and silver, and will be an extremely versatile piece in you wardrobe all year round.
