Bell, Teigen offer to pay fine for former U.S. gymnast

With over 140 women and girls accusing former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse, many of his victims have stood before him in court to share the pain they have carried with them for years. But one victim and former Olympian may face a fine for facing her abuser yet again.

According to Entertainment Weeklybecause gold medal winner McKayla Maroney settled a lawsuit against USA Gymnastics in 2016, she is “unable to publicly discuss Nassar” and could face a $100,000 fine if she does, including if she gave a victim impact statement in his recent court proceedings.

But two of Hollywood’s best and brightest have offered to help Maroney, should she decide to speak up and be hit with a fine; model and author Chrissy Teigen was first to take to Twitter to offer to foot the bill for Maroney, writing that she would be “absolutely honored” to do so.

A few minutes later, EW says Parks and Recreation creator Mike Schur and actor Kristen Bell chimed in, offering to split the payment on behalf of the gymnast.

If that’s not women (and men) supporting women, we don’t know what is.

Teigen debuts clothing line with Revolve

As if we all already didn’t love Chrissy Teigen enough, she had to go and launch a new clothing line to make us adore her even more.

According to Cosmopolitan, the model and author unveiled a brand-new clothing line with the Los Angeles-based retailer, Revolve, that includes everything from black bodysuits to fringe coats to thigh-high boots. As for her inspiration while designing the collection, Teigen explained in a statement that she crafted pieces with the woman on the go in mind, Glamour reports.

“I wanted to create beautiful, classic pieces that are sexy yet comfortable,” she said. “I also wanted to make sure the pieces were very versatile to be able to mix and match. The color palette in the collection is all neutrals in order to create that timeless look. It’s all about being confident and feeling sexy!”

As for the price of the luxurious new line, Glamour says the collection ranges from $78 to $328, with each product “alluding to parts of Teigen’s life—from the Luna lace to the Como lace-ups.”

“The limited-edition palette comes with ‘Chrissy’s favorite highlighter,'” reports HuffPost, as well as the “Becca shimmering skin perfector in Rose Gold, plus three new shades: a pressed highlighter in Beach Nectar, a bronzer in Malibu Soleil, and a luminous blush in Hibiscus Bloom.”

Teigen helps pay student’s tuition

As if we needed another reason to love Chrissy Teigen, she just delivered.

According to Glamour, North Carolina native Mercedes Edney set up a profile on crowdfunding site YouCaring in order to help pay her over $6,000 tuition for esthetician school. With just about $300 raised, Edney was short of the funds needed to pay for her tuition, books and fees, so she took to Twitter to promote her crowdfunding page — and that’s when Teigen stepped in.

Glamour reports the model donated $5,600 to cover her schooling costs, and Edney took to social media to share her gratitude for Teigen’s assistance.

Sharing the news on Twitter and Instagram, Edney wrote in her Instagram post — which was accompanied by a photo of her tuition receipt — that she was shocked when she saw the payment notification.

“My paypal alert went off, and as I looked at my phone, there was amount of $5605. I thought it was a glitch,” she wrote. “I then look at my email and realized it came from my fundraiser. @chrissyteigen donated my entire tuition money for school. I have been crying all night and I cried in the office this morning as I paid my downpayment for esthetician school. I haven’t been this happy in a very long time.”

Edney also shared her thanks on Twitter, to which Teigen replied, “I’m really excited for you to live out your passion.”

It looks like Edney has a beauty school fairy godmother.

Teigen takes on equal representation in modeling

Chrissy Teigen held back nothing in an exchange with E! News when it came to equal representation in both modeling and the entertainment industry at large.

According to Marie Claire, she told the entertainment news outlet that she wants it to become normal to see Asian models walk down the runway and even see broader representations of Asians in popular culture items, such as film.

“I think it’s really important to start embracing people…seeing them in roles that are not necessarily ‘That Asian Girl’ or ‘That Asian Boy,'” she said. “In movies you’re like ‘Oh, this Asian girl is dating this white guy’ — I want that to be normal.”

Refinery29 said she also touched on cultural appropriation, offering that there is a fine line being honoring and whitewashing a culture:

“I personally am not offended by cultural appropriation of any sort because I feel like it does pay homage, but at the same time there are a lot of beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, Asian women that could do the same thing.”

Teigen gifts ‘Lip Sync Battle’ dress to Twitter fan

The holiday season is a time for giving, and one lucky fan just received one stylish gift from none other than Chrissy Teigen just in time to ring in the new year.

According to InStyleTwitter user Rebecca Howe fell in love with a wine-colored velvet dress Teigen wore to host a recent holiday episode of Spike’s “Lip Sync Battle.” In fact, she loved it so much that she sent a Tweet to Teigen, saying “@chrissyteigen but seriously when you’re done with that red dress from this week’s @SpikeLSB can I have it please,” InStyle reports.

Within two minutes, InStyle says Teigen responded to the Howe’s request: “I am done. DM me your address!”

That’s one gift that Howe will remember well beyond the 2016 holiday season.

She Leads, You Follow: GRAMMYs Edition

The Staples Center in Los Angeles came alive on Monday, Feb. 15 when music’s best and brightest were honored at the 58th annual GRAMMY Awards. As much as the awards paid homage to the most popular artists of yesterday and today, the awards were as much about the fashion as it was about the music.

Accompanying husband John Legend was model and soon-to-be mom Chrissy Teigen, who worked the red carpet in a stunning gown by Yousef Al-Jasmi, according to E!Online. Featuring a sparkly sheer cape and back slit, Teigen finished off her white curve-hugging gown with a sleek high ponytail, a frame clutch and diamond jewelry.

On-air correspondent for E! News Zuri Hall took her turn on the red carpet in a black sparkly fit and flare gown. With a sheer mesh bodice and black beading over a nude underlay, Hall’s gown was equal parts sexy and elegant.

Kaley Cuoco opted for a beaded jumpsuit to present one of the prestigious awards. Wearing what E!Online says Naeem Khan number, Cuoco’s cutout jumpsuit delivered streams of beading over a white background, seemingly encrusting her in crystals. The actress completed her look with tousled locks and a neutral minaudière.

Although these ladies are dressed for music’s night to rock, there are certain things we can take away from their looks to apply to the way we dress every day:

  1. Try something new – While the thought of having a cape attached to your outfit may sound a bit strange, Teigen showed us that taking a risk in our fashion can pay off. Whatever style or trend you find intriguing, you should definitely find the courage to try it; just make sure that if it’s a trend (like capes or fringe, for example), you can see it not only mixing into the current pieces into your wardrobe, but also wearing it more than just once. After all, you wouldn’t want to invest in something that you wear only once. But if you can see the piece seamlessly integrating into your wardrobe and being a piece that you’ll wear season after season, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t take a risk!
  2. Details, details, details – Both Hall and Cuoco wore beaded ensembles, but they weren’t merely covered in sequins from head to toe. Instead, both garments arranged the beading in such a way that creates shape on their bodies. For example, the beading at the hip of Hall’s gown curves to accentuate her hips, while the beading at the bodice of Cuoco’s jumpsuit features a quasi-chevron pattern to emphasize her bust. The long, straight lines of the beading on the legs of Cuoco’s jumpsuit also work to make her legs look that much longer and leaner. Details like these are not just pretty, but also quite functional. So when you are shopping for anything from a dress to a skirt to a blouse, look for things such as seams and darts that will draw attention to areas that you’d want to accentuate or detract from areas that you are self-conscious about. Just remember: clothing should work for you — you shouldn’t have to change for the clothing.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Although it may not feel like a winter wonderland this December depending on your location, Target unveiled their own wonderland on Tuesday, Dec. 8. A Target Wonderland pop-up shop was opened in New York City this past week, something Business Insider reports the company calls, “part magical toy store, part Pop Art exhibit.”

Following their whimsical holiday ads, Target Wonderland brought their “Holiday Odyssey” ads to life with giant Lego ships and oversized Etch-a-Sketches throughout the shop. While this concept shop was officially unveiled on Tuesday, the 16,000-square-foot store held its VIP kickoff event on Monday, Dec. 7, playing host to a number of fashionable A-listers.

One such guest was model and mom-to-be Chrissy Teigen, who wore a white mini shift dress along with what The Daily Mail reports are gold KG Kurt Geiger platform sandals. Teigen completed her look with gold earrings and a matching gold clutch.

While we love Teigen’s white-hot look, we wish we could say the same about its price — her ‘Hero‘ heels by Kurt Geiger cost $185 (although they are currently on sale for $120 in black). So instead of shelling out big bucks for a mere pair of heels, you can get her entire look for under the sale price of her Kurt Geiger platforms. Read on to find out how!

First on our shopping list was a white shift dress, and we found the perfect option in the form of the Checkered Matelassé Shift Dress from Forever 21. Cut in the same straight shift style, this dress will also give you some added texture with its matelassé woven pattern. This fashionable piece will serve as the basis of our look for less, and it only costs $24.90.

She Leads, You Follow: La Mer Celebration Edition

Being considered an ‘icon’ in the fashion and makeup industry is not an easily-won accomplishment, but on Oct. 13, skincare and cosmetic brand La Mer celebrated their icon-status at their “Celebration of an Icon” 50th Anniversary event at Siren Studios in Hollywood, California. Although the night was all about La Mer, we couldn’t help but be sidetracked by the event’s tremendous red carpet fashion.

Take Chrissy Teigen’s white-hot ensemble, for example. The model and recently-announced mommy-to-be made an appearance on the red carpet in what InStyle describes as a white strappy Kayat dress. Teigen completed her look with silver metallic frame clutch, matching silver Jimmy Choo sandals and EF Collection jewelry.

Following suit in an equally stunning look was Gwyneth Paltrow, who rocked the red carpet in a Galvan jumpsuit with a sheer plunging neckline. Polishing off her look were black satin Brian Atwood sandals and a bold cocktail ring.

Although these lovely ladies are styled for the red carpet, there are certain facets of their looks that we can apply to the way we dress every day:

  1. Structurally speaking – Chrissy Teigen’s white Kayat dress a perfect example of clothing with an inherent, shape-creating structure. The wide straps accentuate her shoulders, balancing them out with her hips, while the zipper running down the center of her dress draws our attention and makes us follow the long line it creates. The seaming and slight ruching at the bodice and waist of the dress draws attention to her bustline while simultaneously narrowing her waist. These simple, barely perceptible features all work to define her shape and make an otherwise simple dress visually stimulating. Whether you’re shopping for anything from a dress to a blouse, be sure to consider all of the elements of the garment beyond the print and overall shape, because there may be elements working ‘behind the seams’ that make the piece a very functional, yet fashionable item.
  2. Jump into a jumpsuit – Gwyneth Paltrow’s Galvan jumpsuit shows us not only one way to properly wear a formal jumpsuit, but also what to look for when shopping for the perfect one-piece. First, be sure that the jumpsuit has a clearly defined waistline; in Paltrow’s jumpsuit, her waist is easily identified by a thick black band. Then, check out the cut of the legs; a universally flattering leg silhouette for jumpsuits is wide-legged cut, because the leg of the pant will graze the widest part of your hips and fall straight down to the floor, creating a long, lean legline. Finally, try to find a jumpsuit with some interesting detail that will act as a focal point for the look; in Paltrow’s Galvan number, the obvious focal point is its sheer plunging neckline, but a high neckline or notched strapless neckline can be equally as eye-catching. All of these facets combine to create a flattering jumpsuit look for all body types.
  3. A ‘solid’ look – One of the things both of these looks have in common is that they are composed of solid colors. And while solid colors can sometimes be thought of as ‘boring’ or ‘dull,’ both of these outfits prove that solid colors can be anything but boring. So what is it that makes these outfits particularly interesting? The answer is in the details — not only are both Teigen’s dress and Paltrow’s jumpsuit tailored perfectly to their bodies, they also have inherent shape, structure and detail that combine to make a visually stimulating look. Both of their outfits demonstrate that solid colors can be exciting when they are cut and styled in ways that enhance the body shape of each woman, as well as their personality.

She Leads, You Follow: MTV VMAs Edition

Award shows are as much about the awards and their recipients as they are about the pre-show red carpet fashion. And the MTV Video Music Awards, which took place on August 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, was no different. While the VMAs featured some zany performances and some shocking award results, the fashion on the red carpet was really what caught our attention!

In the midst of some over-the-top looks, there were some really beautiful red carpet fashions that may have been overlooked. Take for instance Demi Lovato‘s pink minidress by Nicolas Jebran. The semi-sheer dress features a pale pink geometric overlay done over sheer nude fabric, allowing for subtle peeks of skin without being too revealing. Lovato kept the rest of her look simple, letting her dress be the star of her red carpet appearance by slicking her hair back from her face and keeping her makeup dewy and soft.

Model Chrissy Teigen followed suit in an equally sexy, sheer number, stunning in what E! News reports is a black Marchesa gown with sheer panels in the skirt starting at the top of her thigh. The dress features beaded lace-like details at the bodice that cascades down into the the straight sheer skirt. Teigen completed her all-black ensemble with black teardrop earrings and a few bracelets and rings.

Hailee Steinfeld took an ultra-modern approach to her red carpet style, wearing a white jumpsuit that E! News says is designed by Stella McCartney. Steinfeld added a bid of edge to her look, pairing it with a large gold collar, a round gold clutch, and gold heels. She completed her fashion forward look with sleek pin-straight hair and dramatic eye makeup.

The last look to take our breath away came courtesy of Lily Aldridge, who wowed on the red carpet in yet another all-black ensemble featuring an ultra-low v-neckline. And if the neckline wasn’t sexy enough, her Alexandre Vauthier gown also has cutouts at the waist that extend onto her back. Aldridge let her gown speak for itself, completing her look with loose waves, natural makeup and minimal jewelry.

Although these ladies are all dressed up for the red carpet, there are certain things we can take away from their looks to apply to our daily fashion choices:

  1. Go for a deep v-neck – Demi Lovato’s sheer pink number and Lily Aldridge’s all-black ensemble both feature deep v-necklines, but they are done in different ways. Lovato’s neckline is a slimmer v-shape, flanked by pink details; this provides a little extra coverage while still opening up the neckline. Aldridge’s gown features a plunging neckline, which, while it’s a sexier look, still opens up her neckline and draws attention upward to her face and shoulders. Deep v-necklines in a top or dress not only direct attention to your face, they also lengthen your body and make you appear slimmer.
  2. Sheer doesn’t always mean revealing – Both Demi Lovato and Chrissy Teigen wore sheer styles, but they didn’t show off so much skin that it rendered the outfit too revealing. Lovato’s sheer dress shows small peeks of skin in between its pink geometric pattern, while Teigen wore a dress with a sheer skirt, which showed off her legs while covering her neck with its high neckline. If you decide to wear a semi-sheer dress, top or skirt, be sure to let the sheer details be the main focal point of the outfit; this would mean wearing a higher neckline if you’ll be wearing a sheer skirt or wearing a longer skirt if you’ll be wearing a piece with a sheer neckline.
  3. Try a statement piece – Hailee Steinfeld took a risk not only by wearing a modern jumpsuit, but also by pairing it with a statement collar. Doing this creates a very dramatic, high-fashion look, which paid off. If you want to go for a statement piece like Steinfeld’s thick collar, be sure to make that the star piece of your outfit; keep your other jewelry to a minimum to let your statement piece be the main focal point of your look. You can also take your statement piece to the next level by pairing it with a sleek modern look (like Steinfeld’s jumpsuit!) to create a bold, fashionable look.
