JLo to help you glow with new makeup collection

Jennifer Lopez is about to help you get your glow on.

According to People, the multi-hyphenate is launching a brand-new, limited-edition makeup collection with Inglot Cosmetics, working with the brand on “everything from the shade range (all 70 color products in the line were either created and hand-picked by the star) to the names of some of her bound-to-sell-out-in-seconds skus, such as a bronzer and highlighter she christened ‘Boogie Down Bronze’ and ‘Livin’ the Highlight.'”

But make no mistake: this makeup collection isn’t just any line of basic products. No, JLo wouldn’t do us dirty like that. Instead, People reports that her collection features a “Freedom System Palette,” which allows fans to choose the specific products and shades they want and combine them into one palette — which totals over 300,000 possible combinations!

With her line offering up standards like mascara, lipstick, bronzer and eyeshadow, People says JLo herself acknowledged just how revolutionary her Freedom System Palette is, explaining that not only gives fans the chance to curate their palettes to suit their needs, it also eliminates spending money on sets that don’t fully fit your makeup must-haves.

“Now you no longer have to buy that 5-piece eyeshadow kit to get the one color you really want!” JLo explained in a release.

So when does this magical collection make its debut? People reports that the entire collection will be available on April 26, while a premiere palette will go on pre-sale on April 17. JLo’s collaboration with Inglot Cosmetics will be available on the brand’s website, as well as jenniferlopezinglot.com and in select Macy’s stores.

JLo teams up with Guiseppe Zanotti for luxury shoe collection

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to dress more fashionably, Jennifer Lopez and Guiseppe Zanotti are here to help.

According to Yahoo, Lopez is teaming up with the Italian shoe designer to release a luxury shoe line set to launch on Jan. 23. Called”#GiuseppexJennifer,” the collection features six different designs that “[channel] the singer and actress’s flashy personal style” and features “a pair of lace-up, bejeweled stiletto boots in metallic silver teased by the brand” that Yahoo says is shaping up to be the star of the forthcoming line.

The first major celebrity collaboration for Zanotti, Yahoo reports that the #GiuseppexJennifer collection will be available on the Giuseppe Zanotti website as well as in stores.

We’ll be on the look out for the line very soon!

Capsule collection on the way for JLo

If you’ve ever admired Jennifer Lopez’s style — whether on the red carpet, on stage or on the street — you’ll want to keep an eye out for her forthcoming capsule collection.

According to ELLE, the 47-year-old multi-hyphenate will release a collection of shoes and accessories, teaming up with luxury shoe brand Giuseppe Zanotti to design the upcoming styles.

Set to be released in January 2017, ELLE reports that the collection will include “crystal-encrusted open-toe booties, embellished wedge sneakers, and gladiators in snakeskin-print leather in a palette of pastels, cool greys, and warm beiges. Two bag styles complete the collection.”

Lopez told ELLE of the impetus behind the collection, while also dropping some hints about what to expect from the line.

“I think it goes without saying that like every other girl, I love a killer pair of shoes,” she said to ELLE. “Whether I’m walking the red carpet or dressed casually, the right shoes complete my outfit to make me feel beautiful, sexy, and fearless. The collection Giuseppe and I have created is everything you would expect from the both of us—bad ass high heels with shapes that are fierce and of course, have some sparkle!”

As for Zanotti himself, he said that the capsule collection perfectly encapsulates Lopez, telling ELLE, “The collection, like Jennifer, is sensual, sophisticated, modern but also playful and edgy.”

ELLE reports that pair’s designs will be available in Giuseppe Zanotti stores, online and at select retailers worldwide.

Stay tuned for a review of the line when it hits stores!

She Leads, You Follow: The Daily Front Row Edition

Sometimes, celebrities are just so stylish that they have to be honored for it.

That was exactly the case when The Daily Front Row hosted their second annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards 2016 on Sunday, March 20 at the Sunset Tower Hotel, according to Fashionista.com. With guests like Kate Hudson, Alessandra Ambrosio and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in attendance, the the Awards celebrated those stars who have left their mark on Hollywood’s fashion scene.

One such fashion icon of Hollywood in attendance was Jennifer Lopez, who rocked the red carpet in a white Ermanno Scervino midi dress, says Cosmopolitan. Styling the demure dress with white pointed-toe pumps, a metallic frame clutch and gold jewelry, she added a bit of edge to the sweet look with a bold lip color.

Opting for a full-length gown was model Kaia Gerber, daughter of the famous Cindy Crawford. Wearing a black halter gown with grommet-accented straps and waist, Gerber completed her look with loose waves and natural makeup.

While these stylish ladies are dressed to rub elbows with fellow fashionable starlets from Los Angeles, there are some things that we can learn from their looks to apply to the way we dress every day:

  1. Punch up your look – Even though Lopez wore a sweet, all-white ensemble, she pumped up the volume by adding lots of jewelry and even a dramatic lip color. This serves to break up the monochrome look while also adding subtle detail to create a visually stimulating look overall. If you feel that your outfit needs a breath of life, try adding a statement necklace, a fringe heel or even a plum lipstick to add some interesting details to a simple look.
  2. It’s all in the details – Gerber’s grommet-accented gown is the perfect example of how subtle details can combine to create an intriguing look. The grommets not only accented the straps, they also defined her waist by creating a thick band to encompass her waist while also showing small peeks of skin. Small details like this can elevate even the simplest of looks, taking them from basic to beautiful. When shopping for pieces for your wardrobe, basic pieces with details like grommets, lace-covered cutouts or even tonal prints can offer subtle details that combine to create a visually interesting look that will have others admiring your fashion sense.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Looking your best every day requires time and effort to put together a string of stylish looks ready for all occasions — but when you’re Jennifer Lopez, it all seems effortless.

On Jan. 13, the Shades of Blue star attended the 2016 NBCUniversal Press Day at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California wearing a sleek royal blue one-shoulder dress. InStyle says Lopez paired the asymmetrical Victoria Beckham creation with nude Casadei pumps while polishing off her look with assorted rings and bracelets.

Lopez’s royal blue Victoria Beckham dress may be just the piece your wardrobe needs, but don’t get the credit card ready just yet. Her one-shoulder fitted dress is available at Barney’s New York for a steep price of $2,600 — yes, you read that correctly. Although the price of her designer frock may keep you from buying that exact dress, we’ve recreated her entire look for under $200. Read on for the results!

Finding a frock to match the color and asymmetrical shape of Lopez’s Victoria Beckham number proved to be a difficult task, but we finally landed on a worthy replacement. The Adrianna Papell Draped One-Shoulder Dress from Lord & Taylor in electric blue provides a rich color to rival the Victoria Beckham number while also delivering a one-shoulder design reminiscent of Lopez’s look. As if this dress needed another positive attribute, its price gives us one more thing to smile about: this formerly $98 style is now available for only $36.74.

She Leads, You Follow: Golden Globes Edition

Awards season has officially begun, and at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, the red carpet was rolled out for the finest actors and actresses to be honored at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards. The Jan. 10 awards brought out Hollywood’s best, and they certainly dressed their best for awards season’s kickoff event.

First to impress us with her white-hot ensemble was none other than Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson. Channeling Cookie Lyon’s fierce persona, Henson rocked the red carpet in this stunning white gown with a Watteau train, which she accented with Kimberly McDonald jewelry.

Glimmering down the red carpet was How to Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis, who wore a tulle Marchesa gown covered in beading, according to The Huffington Post. She added a little more sparkle to her look with a Jacob & Co. ring and drop earrings.

Bringing some color into our lives was Jennifer Lawrence, who opted for a bright red Dior number, says E! Online. The Joy actress’ gown was replete with cutouts, featuring two at the sides and one at the back . She topped off her look with a neat updo and a jaw-dropping statement necklace.

Although these ladies are dressed for the kickoff event to the 2016 awards season, there are some things we can take away from their looks to apply to the way we dress every day:

White is far from boring – Henson’s stunning gown shows us just how exciting white can be; its sleek silhouette and dramatic train combine to create a sexy, yet elegant look that makes us pay less attention to the (lack of) color and more attention to the style of the gown — not to mention how gorgeous she is. Henson wasn’t the only leading lady to take to the red carpet in a white gown. Others like Orange is The New Black‘s Laverne Cox and Brooklyn‘s Saoirse Ronan wore white in completely different ways; Cox’s gown gave us a more regal vibe with its high neckline and dramatic train, while Ronan’s gown delivered an ethereal, yet elegant look with its deep v-neckline, its soft skirt and its goddess-like shoulder train. All three women show us that it’s not the color but the cut that makes the gown.

Use cutouts to your advantage – Take a cue from JLaw and use well-placed cutouts to your advantage. Her side cutouts not only accentuate her waist, they also create a curve on her hips in an otherwise column-like gown. The quasi-croptop style of the top of her gown also exaggerates the effect of her cutouts, adding width to her bust while making her waist appear even smaller. If you want to try cutouts in a dress, start with smaller cutouts at the sides of your waist; this will have a similar effect to Lawrence’s cutouts without showing so much skin on your first attempt with the style.

Try a gem tone – Although Davis’ gown is covered in sparkly beading, it is also a gem tone. Her navy-sapphire dress delivers a rich, deep color that warms up all skin tones. Gem tones seemed to be a big trend on the red carpet this year, with everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Lola Kirke to America Ferrera wearing the same yellow garnet shade to attend the Globes. Colors such as these are universally flattering to all skin tones and generally pair well with other colors and neutrals, so when you are shopping for a dress, a blouse or even accessories, try to look for pieces in colors like sapphire blue, yellow garnet, amethyst purple and ruby red — these are sure to be versatile, yet flattering pieces that will only benefit your wardrobe.

Happy Awards Season, everyone!

Take Her Look [For Less]

When Jennifer Lopez isn’t sitting as a judge on “American Idol” or acting on her new crime drama “Shades of Blue,” she is amazing us with her sense of style. And that’s exactly what she did on Monday, Jan. 4 when her glimmering outfit captured our attention.

Fashion Statement or Lack Thereof?

In my travels around the Internet yesterday, I stumbled upon an interview from The Washington Post featuring world-famous designer Carolina Herrera. Amidst surveying Herrera’s own crisp, classic style and her modern yet timeless designs, The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan asked Herrera for her thoughts on the ‘nearly nude’ trend (think Beyoncé’s Met Gala dress) that has been popping up on red carpets this season.

And Herrera certainly made a statement with her response, saying “Some designers think ‘it’s so modern to be naked or almost naked. They think it’s going to attract younger people if they do those dresses. No!'” She went on to say that gowns like these are only trying to draw attention to the wearer, but she instead thinks that there should be “‘a little mystery'” in the way stars dress.

Her best point on the nearly-nude trend was yet to come. In speaking on the celebrities that wear these barely-there gowns, Herrera said, “‘They’re supposed to be fashion icons and they’re not wearing anything.'”

After reading her thoughts on this trend, I knew I was not alone in my distaste for these gowns! Showing a little skin is one thing, but bearing it all with the risk of a wardrobe malfunction at any second is completely different story. In my opinion, it can be just as sexy or appealing to wear something that only shows one of your favorite ‘assets’ and leaves the rest to onlookers’ imaginations, or as Herrera says, leaves “‘a little mystery.'” This was proven this past weekend when Jennifer Lopez, who tends to partake of the ‘barely there’ trend, wore a demure Valentino ballgown to the Tony Awards. She looked just as sexy as she always does, but she also looked sophisticated and elegant, and she managed to do so all while being completely covered!

What is beginning to happen as a result of the nearly-nude trend is that many teens are beginning to copy this trend in their prom gowns, which oftentimes goes against their high schools’ rules. It is really not appropriate for teenage girls to be copying this risqué trend at such a young age; girls should instead pick one element of the nearly-nude dresses that they like and find a way to incorporate that into their gown. For instance, if they like an illusion neckline, find something with an illusion neckline, but keep the rest of the dress free of cutouts, high slits and cleavage.

Although being covered seems to be ‘uncool’ lately in Hollywood, I agree with Carolina Herrera; how can these stars be “‘fashion icons'” when they barely wearing any material? Fashion is all about how material is cut, sewn and worn in a way that new and progressive – if we judge these barely-there gowns by this standard, then it is not fashion at all. It instead has become a competition of who can wear the least possible amount of material without having a wardrobe malfunction.

Giorgio Armani once said, “Elegance is not about being noticed, it’s about being remembered.” These barely-there dresses certainly get noticed and have their moment in the spotlight, but not because they are elegant. True fashion icons dress elegantly at all times and are remembered for an eternity.
