Take Her Look [For Less]

While Paris Fashion Week slowed to a halt on March 9, it seemed as though the celebrities in attendance only amped up their fashion for the final day of shows.

Such was the case with Selena Gomez, who attended the star-studded Louis Vuitton show. The “Hands to Myself” singer gave her own fashion show when she showed up in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, according to ELLE; sporting a crisp white button down under a black overcoat, Gomez paired the top with a dark wash denim skirt. The star of her look, however, was her Louis Vuitton snakeskin booties.

If you are drooling over her snakeskin shoes, you may want to wipe up the saliva from your chin before you find out how much they cost. These Louis Vuitton stunners — the Cosplay Low Boot — which feature a pixelated python print and a metal toe cap, will set you back a lofty $3,800. While that is out of reach for most of our budgets, we’ve found all the pieces necessary to recreate Gomez’s entire look for (way) less than her pricey booties. Read on for the results!

Starting off our look for less is a simple white button down, and the Textured Cotton Shirt from Forever 21 is a cost-effective blouse for the job. This utility piece will be a versatile wardrobe staple for a mere $19.90.

A dark wash denim skirt will complete the basics of Gomez’s look, and ASOS offers the perfect option in the form of the Jack Wills Button Front 70s Style Denim Skirt. Done in a similar wash and silhouette, this skirt makes a great alternative to Gomez’s style, and it will only set you back $66.92.

Finding snakeskin booties to rival Gomez’s pricey Louis Vuitton style was no easy task, but the Lucky Brand Bartalino Bootie from Nordstrom certainly gives them a run for their money. While they aren’t quite as fancy as the Louis Vuittons, they are much more versatile, delivering a faux snakeskin in a casual western silhouette that can be worn with everything from this look-alike ensemble to your favorite pair of jeans. These versatile booties will definitely be worth their $99.95 price tag for all the wear you’ll get out of them.

Although nothing can compare to Gomez’s multi-colored Louis Vuitton bag, the Steven Madden Chaplin Crossbody Bag gives a similarly colorful look in a quilted design. This chainlink shoulder strap bag will add some color to your look for only $21.95.

While Gomez’s Louis Vuitton booties may not find their way into your closet any time soon, our look alike ensemble can — and it will only set you back $208.72. Just throw on your favorite black coat and rockstar shades, and you’ll be ready for the next Paris Fashion Week.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Looking your best every day requires time and effort to put together a string of stylish looks ready for all occasions — but when you’re Jennifer Lopez, it all seems effortless.

On Jan. 13, the Shades of Blue star attended the 2016 NBCUniversal Press Day at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California wearing a sleek royal blue one-shoulder dress. InStyle says Lopez paired the asymmetrical Victoria Beckham creation with nude Casadei pumps while polishing off her look with assorted rings and bracelets.

Lopez’s royal blue Victoria Beckham dress may be just the piece your wardrobe needs, but don’t get the credit card ready just yet. Her one-shoulder fitted dress is available at Barney’s New York for a steep price of $2,600 — yes, you read that correctly. Although the price of her designer frock may keep you from buying that exact dress, we’ve recreated her entire look for under $200. Read on for the results!

Finding a frock to match the color and asymmetrical shape of Lopez’s Victoria Beckham number proved to be a difficult task, but we finally landed on a worthy replacement. The Adrianna Papell Draped One-Shoulder Dress from Lord & Taylor in electric blue provides a rich color to rival the Victoria Beckham number while also delivering a one-shoulder design reminiscent of Lopez’s look. As if this dress needed another positive attribute, its price gives us one more thing to smile about: this formerly $98 style is now available for only $36.74.

Completing our look-alike ensemble are a pair of suede nude pumps, and the Varcityy pumps by Steve Madden are the perfect pair for the job. Done in a light nude suede in a pointed-toe silhouette, these four-and-a-half inch heels will take your look to the next level for a sale price of $62.98.

While Lopez’s press look may cost upwards of $2,600, our recreated look will only set you back $99.72, a full $100.28 below our $200 budget. To complete your look, stack some silver bracelets on your wrists and add handfuls of rings, and you’ll have Lopez’s look in no time.

Take Her Look [For Less]

August went out with a bang — or should we say a ‘grand slam’ —with the last day of the month playing host to the 15th Annual USTA Foundation Opening Night Gala in New York City. And while the gala was for a good cause with proceeds benefitting the USTA Foundation, which serves to bring “tennis, education, and health curricula” to children and adults, the event was also filled with some great fashion.

Our favorite look came courtesy of Amanda Seyfried, who attended the event in what InStyle reports was a black and white scallop-hem dress by Red Valentino. She completed her gala-ready look with a floral pouch and black pointed-toe heels.

While Seyfried’s look is the object of our envy, it comes at a price that is not-so enviable. Her floral pouch alone, which The Daily Mail reports is by Givenchy, costs a lofty $450. But if you love her entire outfit, we’ve found all the pieces necessary to recreate her look for less. Read on for the results!

Finding a dress to mimic her Red Valentino number was quite the task, but we thought that the GUESS Colorblocked Fringe-Lace Bodycon Dress from Macy’s came pretty close. This dress not only invoked the scallop detail at the hemline of her dress, it also features a black and white colorblocking reminiscent of the Red Valentino frock. But this look is sure to cost much less, coming it at $94.40.

Next on our shopping list was a floral clutch to rival Seyfried’s Givenchy style, and we though the Steve Madeen Noelle Floral Clutch from DSW did just that. Done in an equally dainty floral, this clutch is given a bit of an edge with tonal studs embossed into the flap. And for only $34.95, you’ll have a style similar to the Givenchy clutch at a fraction of the cost.

Our look for less wouldn’t be complete without a classic pointed-toe pump, and the Nine West Rocha Platform Pump from DSW does the trick. These heels can be paired with outfits far beyond our look-alike ensemble, making their $59.95 price money well spent.

Amanda Seyfried’s U.S. Open Gala look cost at least $450, and that was only for her Givenchy floral pouch. But our recreated look will have you gala-ready for only $189.30. Now that you have the perfect outfit, all you need is a gala to wear it to!

Happy Fourth of July!

June flew by, and now we are already celebrating the Fourth of July! And whether you are going to a huge cookout with all of your family and friends or just hanging out on the beach, it’s important to celebrate the Fourth in style.

In thinking about what to write about Fourth of July fashion, I realized that I’ve focused a lot over the past month on what other women have been wearing and why it works, but I haven’t really talked at all about my own style. So I decided to change things up a bit today, and give you a little taste of what I will be wearing this holiday weekend; and of course, I will tell you what you can take away from my outfit so you can try a similar look for yourself!

To me, there’s nothing more American than pairing lace and chambray, so I decided to wear this fun lace muscle tank from American Eagle with one of my favorite Forever 21 purchases ever: star print chambray shorts! To bring in some red (and carry my phone!), I added a coral-red clutch from Charming Charlie and to play up the star motif, I chose to wear a white enamel star bangle (also from Charming Charlie). To complete my festive Fourth look, I decided to wear one of my favorite pairs of sandals: the Steve Madden Kammi Gladiator Sandal in gold, which I picked up from DSW.

My Fourth of July outfit!

My Fourth of July outfit!

Unfortunately, there are some pieces in my outfit that are from last summer (the shorts, clutch and bracelet), so if you love them enough to want to buy them, they are probably no longer available. But, there are some things from my outfit that you can incorporate into your Fourth of July outfit:

  1. Lace can be casual – Sometimes lace can seem like a ‘dressier’ fabric, but it can be casual too. Look for lace in more laid back cuts like a loose muscle tank (like mine from American Eagle); lace in a casual cut is the perfect combination of polished and carefree, making for a cute picnic-going outfit.
  2. All-American Chambray – Nothing says all-American girl like wearing chambray, so try incorporating a pair of chambray shorts or even a chambray shirt into your Fourth of July look. Chambray is a lightweight alternative to denim, so it’s perfect for a celebration out in the sun.
  3. Opt for stars and stripes – Star print is actually a huge trend right now, so it will be easy to find some cute star-printed shirts, shorts and accessories for the summer holiday. But if you want to be a little less literal, try either red and white stripes with subtle blue accessories or blue and white stripes with subtle red accessories. This creates not only a patriotic outfit but also a nautical look, so if you are spending your holiday out on the water this year, this would be a perfect option!

No matter how you are going to celebrate the Fourth of July, I wish you all a fun-filled day with nothing but great food, great company and great style!

Happy Fourth, my friends!
