Gaga to be fifth female Super Bowl headliner

Headlining the Super Bowl halftime show is no small feat, and this year, the Mother Monster has the honor of holding court over the most-watched concert of the year.

According to BillboardLady Gaga announced on Thursday, Sept. 29 that she will be headlining the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show, becoming the fifth female ever to headline the show.

Billboard points out that while many female artists have been featured in performances over the years, the only true female headliners have taken to the stage in the past 20 years.

Previous female headlining acts include Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Madonna and Diana Ross.
