Take Her Look [For Less]

With the holiday season officially upon us, it is now acceptable to start wearing seasonal colors. And actress Lupita Nyong’o did just that on a recent outing in New York City.

Spotted out and about on a chilly day in the city, Nyong’o sported a bright green cable-knit sweater by Ralph Lauren, says The Daily Mail, which she paired with a black skater skirt, black tights, black pumps and a black wool fedora. Nyong’o polished off her chic look with aviator frames and an eye-catching blue satchel to rival her bright green top.

Although Nyong’o’s sweater has us green with envy, we can’t say the same about its price. This cashmere cable-knit style, courtesy of Ralph Lauren’s Black Label collection, rings up at a lofty $750. While we think cashmere is always a good idea, we also think we can recreate this entire look for under $200. Read on for the results!

Finding a sweater in a hue just as bright as this Ralph Lauren number was no easy task, but the Liz Claiborne 3/4-Sleeve Geo Stitch Tunic Sweater from JCPenney was a good substitute. Done in an equally eye-catching lime green, this sweater’s stitching mimics the classic cable-knit style but does so with a more modern, geometric pattern. The best part — its original price is only $54.

As if one pop of color weren’t enough, you’ll have to add this bright blue Merona satchel from Target to your outfit to achieve her total look. Featuring a hue and hardware similar to Nyong’o’s bag, this satchel will add both color and functionality to your outfit for only $39.99.

No look is complete without a good high heel, and the Penny Loves Kenny Friend Pump from DSW is just the shoe to cap off our look for less. Done in a pointed-toe silhouette with the toe-box opening cut straight across the foot, this heel has all the features reminiscent of Nyong’o’s heels with an extra detail at the heel. These pumps, however, will only set you back $39.95.

Lupita Nyong’o’s New York City chic look may cost upwards of $750, but you can steal the star’s style for only $186.84. Wear it with some opaque black tights and your favorite pair of aviators, and you’ll have successfully taken Nyong’o’s look for less.

Some women seem to just have an effortless style, and Reese Witherspoon is certainly one of those women.

The actress was spotted out and about on August 5 in Los Angeles, wearing the Printed Gilmore Skirt from her Draper James clothing and lifestyle collection, which features a dainty pink and purple floral print, side-seam pleated pockets and a feminine scalloped hemline. She completed her look with an easy white v-neck tee, red strappy sandals, mirrored sunglasses and a grey heathered tote.

Witherspoon’s flirty daytime look can be yours, so long as you’re willing to pay $150 just for her Draper James skirt. While $150 isn’t a terribly high price to pay for what’s sure to be a quality item, we thought that we could recreate her whole look from head to toe for under $150. Read on to see how we did!

Finding a skirt to rival the Draper James style was a difficult task, but we thought the Nothing Compares Skirt from Tobi was a sufficient replacement. Offering an equally dainty floral with a frilled hemline, this $28 skirt is sure to add a bit of femininity to your casual summertime looks.

A bright red sandal adds a pop of color to our reimagined look, and what better way to add some color than with the Lyla Toe Ring Sandal by Donald J. Pliner. Featuring a similar strap pattern to Witherspoon’s sandals, this style courtesy of Nordstrom could easily pass for Witherspoon’s exact shoes. On sale for $69.97 from its original $178, this sandal is an easy way to imitate Witherspoon’s style for less.

Mirrored sunglasses will add a whole other level of cool to this look-alike outfit, and the American Eagle Half Frame Icon Sunglasses will do just that. These sunnies feature blue-tinted, mirrored lenses similar to Witherspoon’s shades, and these will complete your look for only $15.95.

Our look for less wouldn’t be complete without a grey heathered tote, and luckily, Forever 21 had the perfect tote to polish off our look. The Classic Oversized Tote not only comes in a similar shade to Witherspoon’s style, it’s also big enough to hold everything from your laptop to a jacket and everything in between. And the best part — it’s only $12.90.

Although we loved Reese Witherspoon’s moderately-priced Draper James floral skirt (and her whole look, for that matter), we thought we could recreate her entire look for less than her skirt’s $150 price tag. Coming it at $130.72, our look for less totaled only $19.28 under the price of her skirt. So if you love her look, now you have all the pieces to recreate it for yourself!

We all know that Olivia Palermo is fashion goddess among us, but she continues to prove just how stylish she is with each outfit she steps out in. This time, she wowed us with only one piece: a chic white jumpsuit.

The Daily Mail reports that the socialite was boarding a private helicopter in New York City when she was spotted looking effortlessly cool in a Lovers + Friends halter jumpsuit with side cutouts, which she paired with teal sunglasses and leopard print Francesco Russo sandals.

If you love Palermo’s easy-chic jumpsuit, you’ll love that it’s available at Revolve for $189. But, if you’d rather have her stunning Francesco Russo Leopard Print Calf-Hair Sandal, you may have to take out a small loan to afford them since they’re priced at $1,195 at Neiman Marcus! All hope is not lost, however, if you want to take this look for yourself — we found all the pieces necessary to recreate this look for less than $200. Read on to see the results!

Finding a white jumpsuit to rival Palermo’s Lovers + Friends style was quite the task, but we ended up finding two jumpsuits that rise to the occasion. The first jumpsuit to catch our eye was the Kitty Corner Jumpsuit from Tobi. With a similar waistline and wide-leg silhouette, this jumpsuit is a great alternative to Palermo’s $189 look. It also features a deeper v-neckline, as well as an open x-back, which adds a little bit of life to the crisp look. Available for $68, this jumpsuit is the perfect canvas from which to recreate Palermo’s look.

If you’d rather have a jumpsuit with cutouts at the front like Palermo’s look, try the Taylor Cutout Jumpsuit from MakeMeChic.com. The cutouts at the waist extend onto the back, allowing for an almost crop top-like look from the back. This jumpsuit also has a wide-leg silhouette reminiscent of Palermo’s Lovers + Friends jumpsuit, but the Taylor jumpsuit has a much lower price, on sale for only $42.32.

Nothing could ever compare to Palermo’s Francesco Russo heels, but we think the Got the Look Leopard T-Strap Dress Sandals from Lulu’s come pretty close. These sandals have a similar leopard print detail on the heels that remind us of Palermo’s pricier heels, while also keeping the straps over the foot fairly simple. The biggest difference between these heels and the Francesco Russo heels is the price: these cute sandals are a steal for only $31!

This look for less wouldn’t be complete without a killer pair of turquoise shades, and the Calvin Klein Women’s Cat Eye Teal Sunglasses certainly fit the bill. Done in a similar shape and shade to Palermo’s sunnies, these sunglasses could easily pass for her exact pair. On sale for $49.99 on Bluefly.com, these Calvin Klein sunglasses will add the perfect punch of color to your white jumpsuit ensemble.

Although Olivia Palermo’s crisp white jumpsuit look cost upwards of $1,384, we were able to recreate her look for only $191.31 — that’s for two jumpsuits, a pair of leopard print sandals and Calvin Klein sunglasses! So go forth and shop, because now you have no reason not to take Palermo’s look for less!

Sometimes, celebrities wear pieces that even us average shoppers can afford. But when they do, they accessorize with only the best designer shoes and purses. And last week, Victoria Justice did just that.

According to Cosmopolitanthe actress attended the July 17 premiere of Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List, part of Outfest’s 2015 LGBT Los Angeles Film Festival. Justice turned heads at The Montalban Theater in Los Angeles in what The Daily Mail reported was a black mesh paneled Missguided dress, which she paired with pink satin Brian Atwood heels and a Henri Bendel clutch.

Although Justice wore a dress by Missguided valued at $70 (click here to get this dress in white for only $56!), she paired her affordable frock with some pricey designer accessories. Her Henri Bendel clutch, the Stingray Party Starter Box, is priced at $198, while her hot pink Brian Atwood Besame pumps are worth a hefty $695 — that makes her accessories alone worth $893, which is almost 13 times the price of her $70 dress!

But if you are looking to take her look for less, THL not only has two great dress options to rival Justice’s already-affordable frock, we also found killer accessories to complete the look for a fraction of the cost!

To mimic the angular mesh panels at the waist of Justice’s dress, we chose the Mesh Sesh Dress from Tobi. This dress not only delivers the same sexy mesh panels as Justice’s dress, it also has a small back cutout, making it an ultra-sexy dress for all of your party-going needs. Available for only $42, you can’t afford not to add this dress to your rotation of little black dresses.

If you love the high neckline of Justice’s Missguided dress, we found the perfect replacement for under $30. The Club L Mesh Plunge Dress with Open Back delivers a similar round, high neckline while also opening up the neckline with a mesh-covered plunging v-neck. An open back completes this sexy look, which can be yours for only $27.18 on Asos.com.

Justice added a punch of color to her look by adding bright pink pumps, and you can do the same with the BCBG Paris Jaze Suede Pumps from DSW.com. These d’orsay pumps are the perfect way to spice up your already hot look, and they won’t bust your budget at an easy $59.95.

A box clutch completes the look, and the Glint Embossed Minaudiere from Nordstrom does the job. Offering a similar silhouette and color to Justice’s neutral Henri Bendel clutch, this clutch will polish off your look (and hold your phone and lip gloss, of course!) for only $38.98.

You need to buy both dresses, the shoes and the clutch so you can have two fabulous versions of Justice’s look for far less than the original!

Comic-Con San Diego has officially wrapped up its four-day convention, and although the star-studded event has come to an end, we are all still in awe of the fashion from those in attendance.

In what PopSugar is reporting as one of the “sexier” Comic-Con red carpets ever, celebrities from Jennifer Lawrence to Maisie Williams to Kat Graham brought their A-game, showing little peeks of skin via cutouts, plunging necklines and thigh-high slits.

But one of the simplest, yet sexiest red carpet looks came from Glee‘s Lea Michele, who walked the red carpet in a white crop top and skater skirt by Jonathan Simkhai, which she paired with bright red and blue color-blocked heels.

Michele’s white-hot summery look seems simple, but the price tag of her top and skirt prove to be anything but simple — both pieces retail for $325, bringing her outfit total to $650 excluding the price of her shoes (to purchase Michele’s exact pieces, visit  Intermixonline.com for her top and fwrd.com for her flare skirt). But if you want to take her look for less, you are in luck! THL found the perfect pieces to recreate Michele’s crop top ensemble so it’s affordable enough to find its way into your wardrobe!

Since crop tops are all the rage these days, finding a simple white cropped tank was a cinch. The Lulu’s Make a Seam Ivory Crop Top is the perfect cropped style to mimic Michele’s Simkhai top, offering a similar neckline and seaming at the bust to provide a sleek, tailored look. This top comes in at a fraction of the Simkhai top for only $36 at Lulus.com.

The Drifting Away Together Skirt from Tobi completes the top and skirt set, offering a voluminous skater skirt style that pulls away from the hip, creating a narrow waistline. This skirt could easily pass for Michele’s Simkhai skater, and the best part is that it only costs $52 from Tobi.com.

Finding an equally stunning color-blocked heel to compete with Michele’s cute kicks was no easy task, but Aldo stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park with the Deserto High-Heel Sandal. These sandals are available in a fuchsia colorblock, as well as a blue colorblock, allowing you to decide which color from Michele’s heels to work into your duplicate look. These stylish heels won’t set you back much as they are on sale for $45 at AldoShoes.com — basically, this means you should get both pairs!

If Lea Michele’s Comic-Con look was on your style radar, now you can take her look for less with THL’s duplicate look; incorporating pieces from Lulu’s, Tobi and Aldo, THL’s look comes in at a reasonable $133, while Michele’s look totals $650 for only her top and skirt. Now you can look like a star and save money at the same time!

There is nothing more ladylike than a white lace dress, and Naomi Watts showed up to the Armani Prive fall 2015 fashion show in the most sweet and sophisticated lace dress ever.

Watts attended the show, part of Paris’ Haute Couture Fashion Week, in what The Daily Mail reports was a custom Armani lace dress, which featured a halter neckline with dainty straps and intricate white lace. She paired her look with simple nude ankle-strap pumps, while keeping her jewelry minimal with merely a gold bangle on her right arm and a few simple rings.

Watts’ gorgeous lace dress is (unfortunately) a custom dress, which means that it is not only unavailable for purchase, but also that it is essentially priceless. But, if you love this look, it’s not impossible to recreate it for yourself! We found three similar options that can give you that custom Armani lace look without breaking the bank.

The first thing we noticed about Watts’ Armani frock is its beautiful lace, so we immediately wanted to find a dress to imitate the look. The Keepsake One Night Ivory Lace Midi Dress from Lulu’s not only gives us a similar luxurious look with its elaborate lace, it also has a halter neckline that is reminiscent of the neckline on Watts’ custom dress. This lace frock is the perfect way to replicate Watt’s look, available for $156 at Lulus.com.

The neckline of Watt’s Armani dress is also very unique, making it difficult to find a dress that provides a similar look. However, we found a copycat dress from Tobi.com that fits the bill: the Maison dress. This dress perfectly mimics the neckline of Watts’ dress, giving a modified halter that opens in the back to a simple spaghetti strap style, while also delivering a ladylike lace in an A-line silhouette. The Maison dress is available at Tobi.com for only $68 — a steal for a dress that could pass for Watts’ custom Armani look.

If you are looking for a way to replicate Watt’s lacy look in a more casual, daytime way, try the Trixxi Lace High-Neck Skater Dress from Nordstrom. This cute frock still gives us the same modified halter neckline as Watts’ dress, but it gives us lace in a more casual, almost crochet-like way which makes it a little less dressy and more daytime garden party-appropriate. The Lace High-Neck Skater dress by Trixxi is available at Nordstrom.com for only $44.

Naomi Watts’ lace Armani dress may be custom, but there are ways to get her look for less. Just pick up one of these lacy ladylike frocks, pair it with a nude pump and you’ll have recreated Watts’ look without the help of a personal tailor or designer — who needs custom, anyway?!

One of the biggest trends this year has been the festival-wear trend, and with summer concert tours only just beginning, this look is something you are sure to see as you attend outdoor concerts and music festivals this season. But one singer provided a fresh take on the look that we can all learn from this summer.

Vogue reports that singer Ellie Goulding was photographed at the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel where she was set to perform for a Marriott International and Universal Music Group event. The “Love Me Like You Do” singer wore a cream colored lace embellished dress by Chloé, which she paired with a chunky brown platform sandal.

This whimsical, airy look is a must-have for all of your summer concert-going needs, but it comes at price. Goulding’s dainty Long Sleeve Lace Wrap Dress by Chloé is available for preorder at Neiman Marcus for a hefty $4,295. While this trendy look, polished by lace and wispy chiffon, is perfect for that outdoor music festival you’re planning on attending, it is certainly not perfect for your bank account! So THL set out to recreate the look for under $100 so you can still be trendy while also being budget conscious.

Finding a dress similar to this unique, romantic style by Chloé was no easy task. After searching high and low, we finally landed on the Visions of Me Dress from Tobi. Although this frock doesn’t share the same wrap style as the Chloé dress, it does share similar lace embellishments. This dress also has tassels at the neckline (which are very on-trend right now), while the Chloé dress has tassel ties at the natural waist. This concert-ready dress is originally $46, but it is currently on sale for only $32 at Tobi.com.

Platform sandals are a huge trend right now, so finding just the right pair of the 70s-inspired shoes was a piece of cake. We turned to the folks at Forever 21 and found these almost identical Faux Suede Strappy Sandals. These sandals perfectly imitate those worn by Goulding, exactly matching the double straps running across the tops of her feet. These platforms will perfectly complete your festival-inspired outfit for only $32.90.

If you love Ellie Goulding’s festival girl outfit, now you can take her lead and recreate the look for only $64.90! So go buy tickets to that outdoor music festival you’ve been dreaming about, because now you have the perfect outfit to complete a perfect summer night!

Take Her Look [For Less]

If you thought monochromatic was boring, Selena Gomez just proved you wrong. EOnline reported yesterday that Gomez was spotted in New York City earlier this week wearing an all black and white ensemble upon the release of her latest single, “Good For You,” and she showed us all that black and white is certainly good for her!

Gomez wore a black and white Balmain crop top (which she actually wore backwards so the zipper detail was in the front), pairing the top with high-waisted L’Agence trousers, Saint Laurent pointy-toe booties, a Gucci crossbody bag and Saint Laurent sunglasses.

While Gomez looks stunning in this outfit, what is perhaps most stunning is how much this complete outfit costs. EOnline reports that the completed look totaled $3,311, with her shoes alone making up a third of the price at $1,050! But, if you want to take Gomez’s look for less, you are in luck – we set out to recreate her entire look for only $150, and what we found may shock you!

The first order of business was finding a black and white crop top that was even remotely close to Gomez’s $611 Balmain top, which was no easy task. But, we managed to find a similar color-blocked style at Tobi — the Cross it Over Crop Top offers a black and white colorblock look with a high neckline reminiscent of Gomez’s Balmain look, but it has some cutouts that Gomez’s top does not have. What this top also has that Gomez’ top doesn’t is a small price tag: this top comes in at a reasonable $44!

Finding high-waisted black trousers sounds like it should be easy, but it actually was the hardest part of the process. After some searching, THL finally landed on the Trouser We Go Black High-Waisted Pants from Lulu’s. Although this trousers have the same high-waistline, they do not have the same wide-leg look, but it still creates a chic look nonetheless. These fitted trousers come in at $37, compared to Gomez’s $295 pair.

Because Gomez’s $1,050 Saint Laurent booties were completely covered by her trousers, we decided to go for a simple pointy-toe pump instead. We found these classic faux leather pointy-toe pumps from Forever 21 for only $19.90 to mimic the shape of Gomez’s booties without actually seeing the rest of the shoe.

Gomez’s logo-embossed $980 Gucci crossbody bag certainly cannot be duplicated, so we opted for a simple brown faux leather crossbody with a knotted detail on the front flap. This bag has a similar rich cognac tone to Gomez’s Gucci bag, but it definitely does not have the same price tag, coming it at only $22.90 at Forever 21.

Dark-tinted aviators complete the duplicate look for only $5.90 at Forever 21 — who could tell that these sunglasses aren’t the same $375 Saint Laurent glasses that Gomez is wearing?!

THL set out to recreate Selena Gomez’s $3,311 monochromatic look for less than $150, so how did we do? Our pieces from Tobi, Lulu’s and Forever 21 totaled only $129.70, affording this pricey look to all those who admire it! So if you love Gomez’s look but couldn’t get past the price, take our lead and try out some of our recommendations! Happy shopping!
