Beckham embarks on first Reebok collection

When you think “Victoria Beckham,” there’s a pretty good chance that words like “posh” or “fashion” pop into mind. But what about the word, “athleticwear”?

Well, now you can associate Posh Spice herself with the very word, because the first photos of her debut collection with Reebok have been released, and they all depict an ‘ode to Shaquille O’Neal,’ according to Harper’s Bazaar. So far, the photos show ’90s-inspired athleticwear modeled by Beckham and O’Neal, whose height disparity is on full display while standing next to the 7-foot-1 basketball giant.

Wearing matching looks from the collection, Harper’s Bazaar says Beckham shared photos of the unlikely duo in a series of Instagram posts, giving a peek of Shaq-inspired T-shirts, as well as her son Romeo wearing a sweatshirt from the line featuring a silhouette of Shaq delivering a signature slam dunk.

As for the specifics of the line, Harper’s Bazaar reports that the unisex line is will be available “soon,” and is the first installment of her collaboration with Reebok, which is rumored to include both apparel and footwear and debut later this year.

Beckham brings signature style to Target

April 9 may seem like a random spring day, but for Target, it’s the day Victoria Beckham descends on the mass retailer.

According to Vogue, Beckham’s long-awaited collaboration with Target will finally launch on April 9 at Target and on victoriabeckham.com, treating customers to a modern, yet whimsical collection of both child and adult clothing.

While Beckham is most known for her upscale designs for her self-named fashion label, Glamour reports that this collaboration will make high style available to shoppers of all budgets, with prices starting at $6 and capping at $70 and ” most items falling below the $40 mark.”

Though the line features ’60s-inspired florals and playful patterns, each piece in the collaboration offers tailored, fitted pieces that look much more expensive than their price tags admit. Take, for example, the Black Daisy Peplum Top: with oversized flowers strewn about the top, the bold floral doesn’t overtake the top’s structure, which has a clearly defined waist and bust that will only create shape and curves.

Comprised of over 150 pieces, Beckham told Vogue that the accessibility of her clothing has been a chief concern for her and her brand. “It has always been important to me that my designs reach women all over the world,” she said. “I think it’s great [and] it’s a collection that women everywhere can enjoy.”

If this collection is calling your name, you can start staking out the pieces you’ll want to purchase by skimming Target’s preview of the line here.

Beckham receives posh honor from Queen

Victoria Beckham is more than just Posh Spice; she’s a fashion designer, a humanitarian and a UN ambassador. And now, Beckham is an official honoree of the Queen of England.

According to ELLE, Beckham has been selected to the Queen’s Honours List for 2017, earning her an OBE, or an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. “She is being recognized for her work in fashion and for her humanitarian work,” says ELLE, as “Beckham not only runs her eponymous fashion line, but also serves as a UNAIDS goodwill ambassador.”

But Beckham isn’t the only member of her family to receive the prestigious honor: ELLE says husband David Beckham received an OBE 13 years ago.

Congratulations to Victoria and the Beckham family.

Beckham teams up with Target for new collaboration

Posh Spice is about to make her posh fashion a little more accessible.

According to the Huffington Post, Victoria Beckham is teaming up with Target to release a limited edition clothing collection for women, toddlers and babies. Announced on Thursday, Oct. 20, the Huffington Post says the partnership “marks the former Spice Girl’s first jaunt into designing childrenswear and arguably the department store’s poshest designer collaboration yet.”

Speaking on the accessibly of her new venture, Chief Executive of Victoria Beckham Zach Duane told Business of Fashion that Beckham’s clothing was never designed with a small audience in mind.

“The DNA of Victoria, Victoria Beckham lends itself to being accessed by a much broader number of people,” he said.

However, Business of Fashion notes that “Beckham, who launched her namesake ready-to-wear line in 2008, promised a fresh take on her repertoire, including some joyful prints. ‘It’s quite girly, fun, happy,’ she said. ‘I’ve always said [the VVB collection] is the other side to my personality, it’s the other half of my suitcase. The fun side of me.'”

With the all-new Victoria Beckham for Target collection is set to include more than 200 pieces, HuffPost says a press release describes the new line is based on Beckham, as well as “the shared experiences between mother and child” and will deliver “soft pastels, bright pops of color and pretty spring prints.”

Available in sizes XS through 3x, Business of Fashion says the collection will hit Target stores and Target.com on April 9, 2017, with select pieces also available on victoriabeckham.com.

So just how much will a VBxTarget design cost? HuffPost says pieces range between $6 and $70 — not too bad for fashion from Posh Spice herself.

Beckham expands design talents to cosmetics

She launched to fame as Posh Spice in the ’90s pop group known as the Spice Girls, and later she rebranded herself as a successful fashion designer. But now, Victoria Beckham is  expanding her design talents to craft an exclusive line of cosmetics.

According to WWD, Beckham is set to launch a limited-edition collection of color cosmetics with Estée Lauder. Due out in the United States and in the United Kingdom on Sept. 13, Beckham told WWD that the collection will stay true to her now-iconic aesthetic, offering products to help create “a smoky eye, a nude lip, or dewy skin.”

WWD reports that the collection will deliver mostly eye and lip products, but will also offer bronzers and highlighters, with prices ranging from “$30 for the designer’s signature nude-matte lip pencil to $45 for an Eye Metals Eyeshadow, $95 for the Morning Aura Illuminating Crème and $1,200 for the Victoria Beckham Collection Daylight Edition, a light box that includes a removable lighted mirror as well as 8 products.”

With both trendy and classic products ready to be released, Beckham told WWD that the collection is a reflection of herself. “I’ve been very honest, very true to myself,” she said. “This has been something that I’ve wanted to do for so many years.”

Group President of The Estée Lauder Cos. Jane Hertzmark Hudis explained their collaboration with Beckham to WWD, sharing that the company has long desired to work with the designer. “We’ve had our eye on her for a long time,” Hertzmark Hudis said. “There are women in this world that represent the Estée Lauder point of view, and she is one of them.”

As for how Beckham represents their brand, Hertzmark Hudis framed Beckham in the company’s larger narrative:

“To us, she’s a next-generation Estée: Authentic, an entrepreneur, wife, mother, fashion designer — and she’s a beauty maven,” she told WWD. Some people in fashion are into fashion, but not beauty. She’s into the whole picture, and has a vision. She knows her style, her point of view and about the way she wants women to look, feel, act and be comfortable in their skin — but really have a great deal of glamour at the same time.”

If you’re already anticipating the Beckham x Estée Lauder collaboration, WWD says the entire collection will be available at Bergdorf Goodman (in stores and online) and  Selfridges, as well as “Victoria Beckham’s Dover Street store in London and on victoriabeckham.com and esteelauder.com from Sept. 13. It will launch in the rest of the world from Oct. 1.”

She Leads, You Follow: NAACP Image Awards Edition

The Pasadena Civic Auditorium was filled to capacity on Feb. 5 when television, film and music’s best and brightest came to celebrate Hollywood’s efforts to create a more diverse landscape at the 47th NAACP Image Awards. With awards going to the likes of Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson for Outstanding Actress in a drama and Queen Latifah for her role in Bessie, the awards were a must-see event.

But while some were honored for their outstanding performances and groundbreaking influences on the entertainment industry, many deserve honors for their impeccable red carpet fashion.

Scandal’s Kerry Washington was the definition of elegance in a black and white Victoria Beckham number, complete with a plunging neckline and a hint of sparkle, says ELLE. Washington completed her look with a box clutch, minimal jewelry and a neat updo.

Following suit in an equally stunning all-white ensemble was partner in Shondaland Viola Davis. The How to Get Away With Murder star walked the red carpet in a white tank-style gown with silver beading outlining her frame. Adding even more sparkle to her luxurious look was EFFY jewelry, says ELLE

Gabrielle Union decided to provide some contrast in a black tulle gown. The mermaid gown featured a dramatic skirt and an illusion top with a V-neckline and lace appliqué. Union topped off her look with a piecey updo, dewey makeup and a statement ring.

Although these leading ladies are dressed for a night of celebrating Hollywood’s most talented, there are several things that we can take away from their looks to apply to the way we dress every day:

  1. White on – Washington and Davis both wore white gowns, but they were far from boring. While Washington’s ensemble feature asymmetrical folding at the bust and a band of beading at the waist, Davis’ all-white look was framed in silver beading. These little details not only look visually appealing, they also help to create shape in the garment. For example, the band of sparkles at Washington’s waist creates a focal point in her outfit, making her waist appear even narrower than it is. The beading on the sides of Davis’ gown starts at the shoulder, widens around the bust, narrows at the waist to define her waistline, and widens slightly again at the hips, all to create a perfect hourglass silhouette. While these may just look like fun details, they are actually quite useful; so when you are shopping for anything from a dress to a top to a skirt, look for details such as panels, seaming or even embellishments that act in a similar way. The best place to start would be to look for garments that accentuate your waist, which could be done through a seam, a peplum or even a sheer panel across your midsection — all of these are tiny details that make a big difference.
  2. Go deep – Both Union and Washington wore gowns with deep necklines, and they have a great reason to do so: a more open neckline not only draws attention to your face, but it can also elongate your neck (which makes you look taller overall). Union’s V-neck actually helps to deemphasize a larger bust since the neckline is angled out toward her shoulder; this gives more width to her shoulder while slightly narrowing her bust and creating a slimmer waistline. Washington’s more rectangular neckline acts as a fabric frame for her face, acting as a pointing device to direct our attention from the band of sparkles at her waist straight up to her naturally beautiful face. Wearing a more open neckline has obvious benefits; whether its in the form of a fancy gown, a cocktail dress or a casual top, V-necks can make you appear long and lean while also directing our attention to your pretty smile.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Looking your best every day requires time and effort to put together a string of stylish looks ready for all occasions — but when you’re Jennifer Lopez, it all seems effortless.

On Jan. 13, the Shades of Blue star attended the 2016 NBCUniversal Press Day at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California wearing a sleek royal blue one-shoulder dress. InStyle says Lopez paired the asymmetrical Victoria Beckham creation with nude Casadei pumps while polishing off her look with assorted rings and bracelets.

Lopez’s royal blue Victoria Beckham dress may be just the piece your wardrobe needs, but don’t get the credit card ready just yet. Her one-shoulder fitted dress is available at Barney’s New York for a steep price of $2,600 — yes, you read that correctly. Although the price of her designer frock may keep you from buying that exact dress, we’ve recreated her entire look for under $200. Read on for the results!

Finding a frock to match the color and asymmetrical shape of Lopez’s Victoria Beckham number proved to be a difficult task, but we finally landed on a worthy replacement. The Adrianna Papell Draped One-Shoulder Dress from Lord & Taylor in electric blue provides a rich color to rival the Victoria Beckham number while also delivering a one-shoulder design reminiscent of Lopez’s look. As if this dress needed another positive attribute, its price gives us one more thing to smile about: this formerly $98 style is now available for only $36.74.

She Leads, You Follow: Global Gift Gala Edition

On Monday, Nov. 30, the city of London played host to the Global Gift Foundation’s  Global Gift Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel. The foundation, which serves to “positively impact the lives of children, women and families that find themselves in need,” got the help it needed from a certain few charitable guests.

One such guest was Eva Longoria, an ambassador for the Global Gift Foundation. The actress attended the gala in what InStyle says is a royal blue Victoria Beckham gown, complete with a deep v-neckline and oversized bow at the waist. Longoria polished off her look with a dainty necklace and ring to add a subtle touch of shine.

Longoria was joined at the gala by her equally stylish friend and the designer of her gown, Victoria Beckham. Beckham also wore a gown of her own design, wearing a minimalistic, all-black camisole-style dress which she paired with diamond drop earrings.

Although this is where we usually discuss how these red carpet styles can offer us certain hints and tips on how to dress from day to day, today’s She Leads, You Follow is a bit different. If there is only one thing to take away from this article, it is this: charity trumps fashion any day of the week, not just during the holiday season, but every single day of the year. So while we could discuss how the bow sash on Longoria’s gown accentuates her waist while Beckham’s earrings frame her face, these ladies demonstrate the importance of helping those in need and advocating on their behalf. Their fashion is great, but taking their lead in being charitable is even better.

She Leads, You Follow: Glamour Women of the Year Awards Edition

Magazine awards season is in full swing as Glamour hosted their 25th Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Nov. 9. The event, hosted by the incomparable Amy Schumer, paid tribute to all of the most inspirational women of 2015, with honorees including principle dancer of the American Ballet Theatre Misty Copeland and entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes. And besides the moving acceptance speeches and tear-inducing moments, the event lived up to its name, bringing an onslaught of glamorous red carpet looks.

First to capture our attention was actress Lupita Nyong’o, who wowed on the red carpet prior to the awards in what InStyle says is a Jason Wu peplum gown done in a forest green. She completed her jewel-tone look with gemstone drop earrings.

Working the red carpet in a red gown, honoree Victoria Beckham opted to wear a dress of her own design to received her Woman of the Year award, says InStyleShe completed her look with minimal jewelry and a no-fuss hairstyle.

Orange is the New Black‘s Uzo Aduba attended the awards dinner in a white column gown with a keyhole neckline. She added a subtle note of color to her look with a turquoise ring on her index finger.

Also attending the awards’ dinner was Jennifer Hudson, who stunned in a slate grey appliqué-embellished gown with a plunging v-neckline. Chandelier earrings complemented her slicked back hairstyle while she added a couple of sparkly bracelets to polish off her look.

Although this is normally where we discuss what lessons to take away from each of these looks, this She Leads, You Follow is special. There is only one thing that we can learn, and it’s not from their red carpet ensembles — every single one of these ladies exudes confidence, not because of their outfits, but because of who they are and all they have accomplished. These women show us that confidence in ourselves is worth more than any gown, any piece of jewelry or any pair of shoes in the world. Confidence is priceless, and they are living proof that believing in yourself can take you very, very far.

Take Her Look [For Less]

Although the days left in the summer season are numbered, certain celebrities aren’t shying away from wearing bright summer white to the last parties of the season.

According to InStyle, Eva Longoria showed up to Lot Studios in Los Angeles in a white-hot midi dress to attend the HollyRod Foundation’s 17th Annual DesignCare Gala on August 8. She styled her body-hugging frock with a nude pointed toe pump and a gold mirrored clutch, while slicking her hair back into a chic updo.

Longoria’s sophisticated look, which features what The Daily Mail is reporting as the Victoria Beckham silk and wool-blend crepe dress, comes at a price — a $2,365 price, to be exact. But if this look is the object of your envy (as it is ours), we have all the pieces necessary to recreate Longoria’s entire look for less. Read on for the results!
